I took a closer look at all of our trees...we definitely have a few mulberry trees (but I'm totally grossed out to even try those...looks like the birds licked all of them). And I think there are pear trees, too! Yum...I hope! The trees need desperate pruning, so who knows how yuck the fruit is going to be.
LOL, good luck with the fruit trees! I have a wonderful Mulberry in the yard, fruit is delicious! We also get a few self-seeded mulberry seedlings which I dig up and sell for pure profit (minus the $1 pot)! It's pretty good. I'd kill for an apple tree!!!
ReplyDeleteI want to say a huge thank you for your comment on my blog. It has got me thinking all day. I'll be sharing the "How" of my story over the next few weeks, when I get time. Simply said... 1) Wholesome "clean" foods. 2) dedication to restraint - for things like sweets and yummy dips and such (this part is optional, and without it I am able to maintain - when I add the restraint, I'm sure to lose weight) and 3) exercise. Nothing fancy. Details to come ;)
Hooray for fruit trees! I personally LOVE mulberries, but it could be a sentimental thing--I spent hours as a child beneath my grandma's mulberry tree, eating berries and getting my fingers and bare feet stained purple from the juice. Ah, the memories...
ReplyDeleteBesides the birds having tasted what looks like every berry there, I think I am afraid to try them because the tree most likely hasn't ever been pruned. And so there are gobs of fruit everywhere...I have a feeling they might taste badly. And I saw a bug! Haha! Bugs are gross to me. :) Perhaps I just need some good ol' mulberry training to feel more confident in knowing how to work with them.
ReplyDeleteohhh, that is such a cool tree to have! i would be tempted to take a small bite and just see how it tasted. i never knew that pruning was necessary for fruit trees. good to know!
ReplyDeleteI don't have the same temptation, because I bet there isn't much flavor and that it is very sour and puckery tasting! I am pretty sure that trimming helps the fruit to get bigger and more tasty. But I am not an expert by any means.
